About IQAC
Every accredited institution should set up an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in accordance with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) requirements as a post-accreditation quality maintenance strategy. Since quality improvement is a continual activity, the IQAC integrates itself into the institution’s structure and strives to achieve the objectives of quality improvement and maintenance.
The main goal of the IQAC is to create a system for consciously, consistently, and catalytically improving institutions’ overall performance. The IQAC is meant for planning, guiding and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the colleges.
Goals of IQAC
The primary aim of IQAC are:
- To create a structure for deliberate, persistent, and catalytic action to enhance the institution’s performance in both academics and management.
- To encourage actions that will help institutions function better by internalizing a quality culture and institutionalizing best practices.
Role of the Coordinator
The following are the roles and responsibilities carried by coordinator IQAC:
- To organize the transmission of information on several higher education quality metrics.
- To organize the documentation of the numerous quality improvement programmes and activities.
- To coordinate the institution’s quality-related activities.
- To plan the prompt and effective implementation of the IQAC committee’s decisions.
Operational Features of the IQAC
Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
- The creation and use of quality standards/benchmarks for the institution’s numerous academic and administrative activities;
- Encouraging faculty development to adopt the necessary knowledge and technology for interactive teaching and learning processes, as well as the construction of a learner-centric atmosphere supportive of a great education;
- Make arrangements for students, parents, and other stakeholders to provide input on institutional processes that affect quality;
- Dissemination of data on numerous higher education quality indicators;
- Organization of workshops and seminars on quality-related topics at both internal and external institutions, as well as the development of quality circles;
- Documentation of the numerous quality improvement programmes and initiatives; Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
- Creation and upkeep of an institutional database through MIS with the aim of preserving or enhancing the institutional quality; Development of Quality Culture in the institution;
IQAC will Facilitate Contribute
- To a greater degree of clarity and emphasis in institutional functioning toward quality improvement and to help the quality culture become internalized.
- To institutionalize many beneficial practices to improve and integrate the institution’s varied activities.
- To offer a solid foundation for decision-making in order to enhance institutional performance.
To influence change within the organization. - To enhance intra-company communication.
